Today’s the day—Day 0 of my 31-day AI challenge, where I dive headfirst into the wild world of artificial intelligence tools. Before I can explore ChatGPT, Midjourney, or any of the shiny toys on my list, I need a home base and this is that home base. Todays challenge had me setting up this website. Enter Wix, an AI-powered website builder that promised to get me up and running fast. Spoiler: it delivered, but not without a few hiccups. Here’s how it went down.

I set a timer—40 minutes to build a site from scratch. Wix starts with a slick trick: it asks a few simple questions (What’s your site about? What vibe are you going for?) and poof—an AI-generated template appears. For me, that was a clean, modern layout with a blog section to log my journey, a “home” page, and space for daily updates. The pros hit hard and fast: it’s insanely quick, and everything’s fully customizable. Want to tweak a font? Drag a photo? Add a neon button? Done. Within 15 minutes, I had a site that looked like me—a digital launchpad for my AI adventure.
But then came the challenges: setting up email and payments. This ate up 25 of my 40 minutes, and I felt every second. Linking a custom email (essential for looking legit) was a maze of menus and verification steps. The payment process—tying in my domain and privacy options—wasn’t much better. I wanted to scream, “Just let me pay and move on!” It’s not hard, per se, but it’s clunky when you’re racing the clock. Still, I powered through, and by minute 40, my site was live.
Now, the cons. Wix bombards you with pricing offers—Core, Business, Elite, blah blah blah. Navigating that felt like decoding a treasure map without a key. I just wanted a simple, “Here’s what you need” button. Also, there’s no sandbox mode to play around risk-free. You’re locked into decisions early, which stinks if you’re like me and learn by tinkering. I ended up committing to a $174 yearly plan—pricey, but it bundled perks. My domain? Free for a year. Privacy protection to hide my personal info? $9.90 a month. And my custom email? $42 a year. Total damage: a bit over $200 when you factor it all in. Worth it? We’ll see.
The upside? Once it’s built, it’s built. My site’s ready to host daily posts about AI tools—social media hacks, AI art, videos, you name it. Wix’s AI gave me a head start, and the customization let me own it. Day 0’s in the books, and I’m stoked. Tomorrow, ChatGPT awaits. For now, I’m calling this a win—Ctrl+AI+Website activated.
